THE EFFECT OF THE REALIZATION OF PRINCIPALS RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION TOWARDS THE WORK OF PRINCIPALS OF SMA AND SMP PGRI IN THE REGENCY AND MUNICIPALITY OF BANDUNG
This research is conducted based on the tendency that the principals of SMA and SMP in the regency and municipality of Bandung still have the low quality of work. This assumption refers to the data shows that there are a lot of PGRI Schools which are stand still far beyond successful categories. Reffering to the explanation above, this research reveals the effect of the principals recruitment and selection towards the work of principals. The purpose of this research is to describe and analyze the recruitment and selection variable and also the effect towards the work of the principals.
This research is based on the theory relates to the concept of human resources management, the work of principals, and also recruitment and selection. This research applies quantitative approach with correlative and regressive-descriptive analytic method using parametric statistics. Quantitative approach is intended to process, analyze and interpret the data collected through questionnaire, whereas correlative descriptive is intended to systematically describe the fact, characteristics and the correlation among the scrutinized phenomena.
This research applies ‘saturation’ technique of sampling, the subject of the research are 55 principals of SMA and SMP PGRI in the regency and the municipality of Bandung. Thus, the population and sample are 55 principals. The result of the research shows that all of three-presented hypothesis are accepted and supported by the empirical data.
From the result of the research, it can be concluded that the effect of the recruitment towards the work of the principals are 58,8%, the effect of the selection towards the work of the principals are 45,3%, and the effect of the recruitment with the selection towards the work of the principals are 67,5%. According to the result of the research, there are some recommendation that can be revealed as follow: (a) the recruitment process has to be conducted with the following procedures: identify the work and work condition, that is the job description which contain task list and responsibility of the principal; and determine the candidates of principals; (b) Selection process has to be conducted with the following procedures: reviewing the qualification of the candidate of principals, conducting test using the standardized test form and announcing the result of selection to the participants. Meanwhile, there are some ways to improve the work of the principal: giving the training on school management and its elements, conducting work evaluation or appraisal periodically, and giving opportunity to the principals to continue their studies to the higher grade in order to enhance their ability, capability, and skills.
